Dev Farm was envisioned as a cozy yet expansive farmhouse residence nestled in a vast landscape of greenery. The clients had a very specific material brief from the outset — all major furniture pieces were to be crafted exclusively from American Walnut and European White Oak. This material constraint posed both an exciting design challenge and a sourcing responsibility, which we were eager to undertake.
Scope of Work
- Two bedrooms fully furnished with beds, nightstands, and wardrobes
- Main living hall with a large sectional sofa and centre tables
- Dining area featuring a 13-foot-long solid wood table
- Outdoor porch with furniture for 12 to 14 people
- Furniture for two backyards with a view into the natural landscape
Design & Material Highlights
- The 13-foot dining table required carefully sourced solid slabs and precise joinery due to the size and wood species
- Dining lights were designed using woven jute cloth, complementing the natural setting and tactile experience of the interiors
- A custom unit incorporated a pop-out mechanism, blending tech function with wooden craftsmanship
- The living room sectional sofa involved multiple experimental iterations to achieve the desired ergonomic balance and form precision
- Ground floor master bedroom featured a 6-foot-long mirror paired with nightstands that had built-in rattan basket drawers — combining rustic charm with hidden utility
This project became a refined expression of material purity and functional simplicity. The limited architectural interior footprint was balanced by generous outdoor areas, and our work had to transition seamlessly between both. Every detail was aimed at reflecting a balance between earthy, hand-crafted elegance and long-lasting modern comfort — ideal for a retreat home tucked in nature.
