Detailed Storytelling

This project marked another early milestone in our journey as an independent studio, and once again, it was through a chance encounter with Dipen Gada that things took shape. At the time, PVD finishes were still not widely adopted or cost-effective for commercial-scale furniture, so when we showcased a newly developed centre table with a rose gold electrostatic coating on mild steel, it sparked immediate curiosity from the designer.

Dipen Gada was working on a jewellery showroom in Vadodara — a premium space, but with a cost-conscious client who was hesitant to invest heavily in loose furniture. Given that retail interiors often get refreshed every few years, this made practical sense. Still, Dipen was keen to design something new and distinctive for the customer experience, especially the seating.

Scope of Work

  • Concept and development of a fully custom-designed showroom chair
  • Material experimentation with rose gold electrostatic coating on mild steel
  • Rapid prototyping via 3D modelling and physical sampling to fine-tune structure, comfort, and aesthetics

Design & Process Highlights

  • The chair design started from a simple side sketch by Dipen Gada, which we iterated upon through digital models and finally developed into a fully finished prototype.
  • Despite material innovation and deep detailing, the final chair remained cost-efficient, comfortable, and visually iconic.
  • This balance of affordability, elegance, and originality was only possible because of the deep trust and collaboration between the designer and our team.

Legacy

The success of this chair went beyond the Narayan Jewellers showroom. Its design struck a chord in the retail sector and became one of our longest-running products. Even seven years later, it continues to be sold and adapted in jewellery stores across India.

This project reinforced the idea that great design emerges when aesthetics, functionality, and budget constraints come together — and it remains a cherished example of that philosophy.
